When we first started working on our July meet-up we knew two things for sure: that we wanted it to be a celebration of summer and that with so many people already in the holiday-mood, the location needed to be pretty spectacular. And what could be more spectacular than having a chat and a fancy pants barbecue while sitting outside a Grade 1 listed Arts & Crafts house with the most stunning view overlooking lake Windermere?
We came across Broad Leys (the Windermere Motor Boat Racing Club) after two very long, unsuccessful days in the Lakes, trying to find the perfect location. It was the last venue we went to see, and boy are we glad we did! It was a gift sent from above and we still can’t believe how lucky we were to find this little gem. The house has such a lovely, relaxed atmosphere with so much history and so many stories to tell. Designed by Charles Voysey, it has character by the buckets and just enough architectural features to feed the soul of an entire Concept North army:)
It also came with an incredible management team (thank you, Miles and Krissy!) who made the evening perfect with their hospitality, kindness and the loveliest summer barbecue you could imagine.
After rearranging the entire layout of the house and making it even cosier by adding some of our favourite lighting lent to us by Houseof.com, we’ve welcomed a few familiar and many new faces, and had the most wonderful evening we’ve had in a while.
Organising these events has been the highlight of the past year for us, and although we start each meetup with a big knot in our stomachs, we finish them feeling uplifted, inspired and overall grateful for this community! Thank you so much for everyone who joined us – this was our first gathering in the Lakes, but it definitely won’t be our last!
Big thank you to everyone that came along, we have loved getting to know you! To everyone at Broad Leys – you have been brilliant, and we cannot wait to come back. To our Robyn, who captures these evenings in the most perfect way! Make sure you have a look at the full Gallery of the meet-up to see all the images.
